How to setup clear panels and apply in a job

Summary:
This article explains how to use and set up Clear Panels in SmartBuild, including skylights and wall eave lights. For full walkthrough and visuals, refer to the video.

Using Clear Panels (In a Job)

1. Eave Lights (Wall Panels)

  • Go to Clear Panels → Eave Light

  • Click on a wall to place

  • Set:

    • Full width or custom length

    • Offset from top of wall

    • Panel length

    • Material and color

  • Apply to replace a section of wall panel with a clear panel

2. Skylight Panels (Roof)

  • Go to Clear Panels → Skylight

  • Click on a roof plane

  • Set:

    • Start point (based on panel width)

    • Offset down

    • Panel length

    • Quantity

    • Skip factor (spacing between panels)

  • Apply to insert panels into the roof

Note: Placement depends on panel width and does not automatically account for overhangs or framing spacing.

Setup Process (Admin)

1. Enable Permissions

  • Ensure users have Clear Panels permission enabled

2. Create Clear Panel Material

  • Go to Setup Wizard → Sheeting

  • Add new item:

    • SKU & description

    • Coverage width (ex: ~36”)

    • Orientation (vertical)

  • Assign to the correct panel system

  • Add usage:

    • Skylight

    • Eave Light

3. Configure Pricing & Lengths

  • Choose:

    • Fixed lengths (ex: 2’, 4’, 8’)

    • Or price per foot

4. Set Up Colors (Transparency)

  • Go to Setup Wizard → Colors

  • Create new colors:

    • Example:

      • Smoke Gray (~80% transparency)

      • Clear (100% transparency)

  • Assign color codes

  • No texture map required

5. Assign Colors to Panel

  • Return to Sheeting

  • Enable colors for the panel

  • Remove unused colors

  • Keep only your clear panel colors

6. (Optional) Assembly Setup

  • Create an assembly for the panel

  • Add:

    • Panel material

    • Fasteners (ex: screws per sq ft)

Important:

  • Fasteners must include matching color codes

  • Use SKU overrides if matching colors don’t exist

Final Notes

  • Clear panels rely on user placement accuracy (alignment with girts/purlins)

  • Always verify placement near overhangs

  • Transparency settings control visual appearance

  • Consider trims and fasteners when using full clear wall systems
